Members of the French Resistance
The above photograph shows members of the French Resistance walk along a street carrying their weapons.   It’s difficult to identify exactly what they’re armed with but it looks like the women are carrying Carabine de Gendarmerie Modèle 1890s - a short Berthier Police Carbine.  While the chap on the right appears to be carrying a Modèle 1892 Lebel revolver hanging on a lanyard.
With their brazen carrying of weapons in public it is a safe bet to surmise that the photograph was perhaps taken during or after the recapture of Paris. Of course it could be any major French town or city, but the photo was almost certainly taken during the Summer of 1944.
CORRECTION: Read this post to learn how these Resistance fighters are Italian not French!
